After the success of their Blues night earlier in the year, promoters In The Moment are once again presenting a Blues Revue, featuring some of the top names on the circuit.
For those who follow 2-Tone music, guitarist and songwriter Neol Davies will need no introduction. A founder member of Coventry band The Selecter, he came to prominence with his compositions On My Radio, Missing Words, Three Minute Hero and Too Much Pressure. Since then he has branched out into the blues, producing the highly acclaimed Box of Blues, a project with Horace Panter of The Specials, and Future Swamp, which included Ronnie Wood and members of Reef. Both were released on his own label VoMatic Records. Other notable collaborations have seen him working with Prince Buster and the Skatalites.
After her great performance at the last Blues Revue, In The Moment thought it only fitting that Letitia George should return this time round. A forthright and powerful vocalist, equally at home with up-tempo numbers as well as sensitive soul ballads, her reputation was established after her success on The Voice and she has appeared before appreciative and enthusiastic audiences across the Midlands and recently in Ibiza.
We are also fortunate to be able to welcome back pianist and singer Mark Steeds. Mark has been on the blues and boogie scene for some time, working with Pzazz, The Hangover Blues Band, Boperator and King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, amongst others, and is well regarded by fellow musicians as a capable and inventive player.
Current Upton Blues Festival music director and emcee, Chicago-born Steve Steinhaus is well known for his inimitable vocal delivery of jump, swing, blues and boogie as frontman of bands such as The Dr.Teeth Big Band, Papa Steiny and The Adverse Camber and others; a far cry from his previous activities as a bouncer, a former American footballer and student of Shakespeare!
The ever-popular SugarDaddies (Adrian Litvinoff bass; Steve Roberts gtr, harmonica, voc; Rich Westwood drums) will be the powerhouse behind the front line artists. A richly experienced outfit, they will be joined by swinging saxophonist Dave Roberts.
