Promoters In The Moment are pleased to announce Planet Blues Revue, following on from their two fantastic Blues Revues last year.
Heading the bill is singer Letitia George, who wows audiences with her huge voice, emotional expression and great personality. Earlier this year she bossed the stage with Annie Whitehead and Interplay for International Jazz Day at the Restaurant in the Park. Currently she is touring her show ‘Soul Diva: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin’. Who better than her to take that on?
We at In The Moment love to present new up-and-coming talent, and we are very proud to feature the exciting young guitarist George “Big Ginge” Smith, straight out of Evesham. George can “soothe your soul and take the rafters off all in the same song”, and he is fast making his presence felt on the Blues scene in the Midlands. You’ll soon see why!
Mark Steeds (of Pzazz, The Hangover Blues Band, Boperator and King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys fame) has the piano chair. Mark has a rich understanding of Blues and Boogie piano which he has melded into a style all his own. He has a fine voice too, well suited to the classic tunes he loves to play.
Sharing the vocals, and MC for the evening, is Chicago-born Steve Steinhaus, well known from bands such as The Dr. Teeth Big Band, Papa Steiny and The Adverse Camber and others. Stein brings an authentic American directness to proceedings, as well as an unpredictable edge-of-anarchy energy that is all his own.
Tying it all together and setting up the grooves are Leamington’s seasoned and versatile Blues trio SugarDaddies, with Adrian Litvinoff on double and electric basses, Steve Roberts on guitar, and harmonica, and Rich Westwood drums. These guys really have it covered, from 40’s style Jump and Jive to electric Blues and beyond. Mellow, swinging saxophonist Dave Roberts will be on hand to provide all the finishing touches.
So prepare to move to the groove, or kick back and relax, it’s all about the Blues!
