To launch the QTIPOC fortnight, celebrating Queer/Trans*/Intersex people of colour, a free performance night, open for everyone, at Zephyr!
Headlining the night will be London-based activist & performer Travis Alabanza, performing a set from their show STORIES OF A QUEER BROWN MUDDY KID. Over the past couple years, Travis has been published in Black Girl Dangerous, ‘Black and Gay in the UK’ anthology as well as performing at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Hackney Attic and other venues. The performance, which RVT calls “A breathtaking portayal of a story untold” looks at issues of transmisogyny, fetishisation and racism within the queer community, as well as the impact of internalising this as a black queer femme. Their performance will be followed by a talk on the experiences of Black femmes in Queer spaces, as well as an open Q&A.
We will also have QTIPOC performers at Warwick University including amazing poetry and music from Rami Yasir and Rosa Francesca.
